Document-Genetics-GlobeE-billing reduces Sure’s paper usage by 3,500 sheets per month

22nd February 2013

A NEW electronic billing system introduced by Sure has reduced the company’s paper usage in Guernsey by approximately 3,500 sheets per month.

The initiative, which customers voluntarily sign up to, was launched in August and already more than 1,700 of Sure’s Guernsey customers have requested not to receive paper bills.

"E-billing provides customers with easy and secure online access to their bills, and importantly has significant benefits for the environment as it reduces the amount of paper that is used and the amount that needs to be recycled or is sent to landfill,’ said Mike Fawkner Corbett, Sure’s head of mobile.

"E-billing provides customers with easy and secure online access to their bills, and importantly has significant benefits for the environment as it reduces the amount of paper that is used and the amount that needs to be recycled or is sent to landfill,’ said Mike Fawkner Corbett, Sure’s head of mobile.

Mr Fawkner Corbett hoped that the numbers of customers signing up to e-billing would continue to increase.

‘Around 20% of our customers across Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man have now signed up to e-billing. We hope to encourage the remaining 80% as it would reduce paper usage by nearly a million sheets over the course of a year.’

ParetoPost - Secure Document Delivery Portal

As interest in ParetoPost™ (our secure document delivery portal) grows, we’re uncovering some interesting applications - a good example of this is the move to delivery of electronic payslips.

Traditionally companies have printed payslips, often on expensive secure stationery. This has a number of disadvantages:

  • Expensive stationery
  • Cost to run and maintain printers
  • Energy used during printing
  • Cost to deliver payslips (either manually or via post)
  • Environmental impact

Moving to the delivery of electronic payslips using ParetoPost™ gives a number of immediate benefits:

  • Fast to implement
  • Reduction in labour
  • ParetoPost™ can take payslip data from virtually any payroll software or business system
  • Instant ROI
  • Payslips can be saved for many years
  • Guaranteed delivery - if they’re not viewed the sender (the employer) will be notified
  • Other documents can be included in the employee portal e.g. company handbook, P60s, P11ds, company memos or news
  • Part of a company’s environmental policy
